On a 700r4 from a 91 camaro, is it a 27-spline or 30-spline coming out of the transmission? I counted 27 on mine but just wanted to make sure.

 

All 700R4's from mid 1984 are 30 spline. To make sure, measure the diameter of the shaft, it should measure apx. .990". The 27 spline is apx. .890".

 

Pro Built is correct for the input splines where your converter is, but you stated that you counted the splines on the output shaft, which would be 27 splines like you stated, same as a TH350 or any of the manual trannys.

 

The TH350 has 30 splines, same for the TH400.

 

No, he said he counted the splines coming out of the trans (i.e. output shaft/slip yoke), which would be 27 on a TH350, and 32 on a TH400.

 

Are you looking for a torque converter or a driveshaft yoke? the output shaft is gonna have 27 splines (for the yoke). You gotta count the splines on the input shaft for matching a torque converter. non lock-up have less splines (27) and lock-up trannies usually have more (30). the "newer" models are usually lock-up (30 spline).

 

all 700r4's are lock-up unless they have been modified. after '84, the only 700's that had 27 splines on the input were the v-6 models. all v-8 had 30 spline.
