clunk or knock from rear

I usually search the forum because I am sure this has been asked but the search function seems to be broken. When I accellerate hard from a stop there is a clunk from the back. sometimes there are two clunks, I am guessing its the transmission mount but wasnt sure. It doesnt happen any other time just when accellerating from a stop. I havent had a chance to get under it yet since it started happening on the way to work this morning. Anyone had this happen and can tell me some things to check?

Matt

Yes we've ALL had that happen. Some of us more than once. Very familiar.

It's the trans mount. They always break.

Just change it out. If you want to not have to worry about it any more, get a poly one, such as an Energy Suspension or Prothane one.

OK part 2 I need to drive 3 hours to an interview tonight, will it hurt anything if I drive it that far with the mount broken.

Probably not.

There's people on here that have driven around for YEARS with their car like that, and never even knew what it was until they asked.

Just don't stomp on the gas too much.

Thanks, I will change it tonight afterwards. If I remember right its just three bolts and I shouldnt have to remove the crossmember to change the mount.
