T-5 rebuild question

I just did a complete rebuild on my WC T5 and used black Permatex RTV to seal the top cover and the tailhousing to the main case. I was told that the transmission may leak after a while when using RTV and to use a special sealant made for these applications. Nobody knew the name of this sealant product. All they could tell me is that it's red in color. Does anybody know the name of this stuff or a part number? A thread search yielded no useful results. Thanks for your help.

Re: T-5 rebuild question

There is no special sealant.

The sealant is not red.

The factory used plain common ordinary black RTV; not even the high-temp kind. Seems to work fine. No leaks when properly applied (i.e. to clean surfaces).

I have no clue where this rumor about that not working, got started.
