Installing T5

I just installed my new clutch and I'm trying to install my tranny again. Is it possible to install the tranny with the bellhousing on it? I removed the tranny with the bellhousing still on it. Motor is still in the car. I'm having trouble because the bellhousing keeps riding up against the transmission tunnel. Has anyone ever installed the tranny this way?
Thanks.

Re: Installing T5

I've never done a transmission that way; but I've gone the other way, putting a motor in with the trans & BH together like that, LOTS of times. In fact it's my preferred way to install an engine into a stick car.

I can't see any reason why you couldn't do the trans & BH together; as long as you can get the trans straight rearward from the motor as far back as it needs to go. You'd need a way to tilt the motor down in the rear, most likely.

That's what I was thinking too. I just wanted to check to make sure it was possible.

Re: Installing T5

just put a hook on the front of the block and lift it with a hoist to make it tilt
If no hoist a jack on t board will work if you gently lift on the balancer. Just watch out for your dist cap

Re: Installing T5

After doing some research, I'd say the best way to do it is to bolt the bellhousing on first.
