700r4 manual valve body issues??
700r4 manual valve body issues??
I had my transmission shop install the TCI reverse pattern manual valvebody with engine braking after they rebuilt my trans this past time...I don't really trust them. I have been having issues with the transmission shifting into fourth gear. The trans will not shift into fourth until the trans has been driven for 30 to 45 minutes. For instance, once I get on the interstate, the trans will not shift into fourth until about 20 miles or so have been covered. Once it does shift into forth, shortly after it will shift out if the throttle is floor boarded. It is really odd. Also, if I get it shifted into 4th, once i start to slow down (at a red light stop sign, ect.) it will start jerking between 3rd and 4th gears until it finally settles in 3rd. Also, if driving on the interstate and it is in 4th, if i manually engage my torque converter lockup, it will immediately pull out of 4th gear.
Does anyone have experience with this kind of valvebody/issue?
Thanks.
Eric

take it back and demand they find the problem...if the rebuilt it wrong then they are liable and need to fix it free of charge.
otherwise you sue...you guys are good at that

Your shop f*ed up the build. - It should also be noted that it takes some pretty good internals for a 700r to continually withstand WOT in 4th gear.
Re: 700r4 manual valve body issues??
Well the problem is that I had to have it rebuilt only after about 10k miles. I am NOT going to take it back to them because they built it the first time and I've had all kinds of related issues since then. For instance, the bolts that hold the rear transmission mount to the crossmember are stripped out probably because the retards used an impact wrench to drive them into their ALUMINUM housing. I'm trying to handle this without going back to them for any reason. Anyone else got any ideas?
