New 700r4/TC, Now Shutters...:gocrazy:

well it has been a while since i've been on. anyway, i replaced my old tranny an torque convertor. it was a dyno-tested rebuild with a new tc (factory stall- i think about 1800rpm).

ever since i installed this thing, its real rough above ~50mph in 4th gear. i was reading somewhere that around 50mph is when the tc locks up. i also read that the brake pedal has a switch that when pressed (above this lock-up speed) the tc unlocks.

after thats said: if i depress the brake just a hair when it is shuttering it goes away. whats this sound like?

forgot to mention that the speed sensor would trip the ses light from time to time before this swap, hasnt happened since then however i wonder if its possible that thats the culprit. thanks.

Sounds like a bad torque converter. I use a small local company that does them for me and my problems went away. Possibly you have a shop by you that could do the same.

i know this is old. however ive recently got to where i can/need to drive the maro more. the shuttering is still present. i would put a year's salary on it being the tc not locking up properly.

what can be done?

the shop that repaired and installed my new tranny had me put some heavy-duty, goop of an addative in and nothing. however my 90 day guarantee had expired so they wont touch it w/o cash in hand.

is there a way to disable my tc lockup w/o burning a special chip? maybe a wire i can snip or unplug? because if the lockup is just for economy, i dont care... right now, having to drive in 3rd doesnt make for good mpg.

SO... im for now i think i will try to make the tc not lock up. and all i know to do is to trick the tranny into thinking im on the brake all the time... any problems with doing this?

i will do this by hopefully finding the wire going to the brake pedal switch, but not the one for the lights of course. i am hoping there are at least 2 wires present... i dont know what else to do. comment?

got a little advice over in the electronics board. i ended up disconnecting the connector with 2 wires on the brake switch. now my tcc doesnt lockup any longer. only downside we've come up with is an increase in tranny temp due to the tc still slipping alittle in OD.<---FYI
