Re: LT1 cam need new converter?

A converter will always lower the et by putting the car closer to the max torque at launch, as long as you can put the power to the ground. So depending on what cam you put in your car you could gain some performance from a higher stall. I have a stock vette converter that has a little higher of a stall then a stock f body. It has 50,000 miles on it and was in good shape when I removed it.

Yeah, I usually throw the stock convertor in the trash when I get the chance; theyre too 'tight' for real performance use. I would doubt that you need a convertor with a mild cam, but like drperfomance said, it never hurts. If you know what RPM that cam will come in at, then you size the convertor to stall maybe 500 RPM below the start of the powerband, so it puts you right there when you punch it. Stock is something like ~1500 RPM.

Yes, the 2000 rpm stall Corvette / S10 truck stock stall converter is a great inexpensive upgrade for every f-body.

A search for "Corvette converter" should reveal more details.

Re: LT1 cam need new converter?

if looking at a budget converter, go with the s10/corvette like kevin said. if ya have a little cash to burn, go with an edge tc like i did.
