5 speed options?
im looking into a t5 swap in the near future and have a few questions i could not find searching.
it is said in the tech article that you need a bellhousing and t5 out of a f-body. i know the bellhousing needs to be from an f-body but does the t5 have to be?
and has anyone here delt with G-Force Transmissions? im looking at their t5 and just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them
thanks

Yes the T-5 must be from another F body. No other will work. Furthermore, it must be from a V8 one, if it's going behind a V8; and it would be best if it was from 88-up one so that it's the 2nd design T-5, and from a TPI car so it has the non-stupid 5th gear (.73 instead of .63).
The BH can be from any V8 F-body 84-92. 82 is for a 4-speed and won't work; 83 has mechanical linkage and is quite difficult to find, and grossly inferior to the 84-up hydraulic system.
Do a search on G-Force. I think you'll find alot of people that have never had one telling all about how great they are, and how they're "going to" get one, and how much power the literature or the guy on the phone says it will endure; and the few who have had one, mostly tell a different story.

Re: t5 trans and bellhousing ?'s
hey, thanks for the heads up, been having trouble communicating with g-force and its getting annoying.
and damn, this manual swap plan of mine is a PITA. it there any other route to install a 5 speed in my car that utilizes the stock mounting location? i dont really want a t56 and i recently bough a UMI tunnel mount torque arm for a 700r4/t5/th350 and i would really like to use it rather than sell it already before i even receive it
.
is there any other way to go? i really want a 5speed behind my new motor, but with 500+ horse power there are not many routes, any help?

You might look in to a TKO 600. Not sure about your UMI set up. But I think you could get a tranny crossmember only from Spohn and still use the UMI set up. You can get the kit from Forte's with all the little adaptors to put the TKO in your F-body.

Re: t5 trans and bellhousing ?'s
G-Force builds-up your actual F-body T-5, so there's no worries about a match. The end result sounds great, but I've also read a lot of negative stuff on these boards about G-Force... about their rebuilds not holding up, but even moreso about their poor customer service--which it sounds like you're seeing firsthand.
Have you looked into Astro Performance? It's a sponsored vendor here on TGO, and they offer a similar build-up. I can't say whether it's really any better than G-Force, but he's right here on these boards, so I'd guess at least the customer service is good.
