7.5 or 7.625

How do you tell the diference between the two?Am I correct in thinking gears are gears, its the carrier that determines if its limited slip or not?

Just with a measuring tape. The carriers are the same. The 7-5/8" gear is just slightly bigger than the 7-1/2"

Re: 7.5 or 7.625

Am I correct in thinking I need thick gears that are for a 3.08 and numerically lower carrier,to fit my 10 bolt 2.73 limited slip stock gm rear?

Re: 7.5 or 7.625

You need the thick gears or a spacer to put numerically higher gears than 3.08 onto your series 2 carrier.

There's no functional difference between the 7.5 and 7.625.
