4th gen pedal problems
Swapping from a 700R4 to a T56 in an '87 IROC. Having problems with the pedal setup.
People say the V6 and V8 4th-gen pedals are the same, so I grabbed a set from the boneyard off a 1993 V6. Cut off the gas pedal, drilled out the brake booster bolt holes, and fit it up to the firewall. Several problems with that:
1) The bracket that goes down for the clutch bolts to come through the firewall comes up about an inch or more away from the firewall, and wont lay flat.
2) Even if I were to bend the bracket down to touch the firewall, it's still about an inch away from the cutouts in my carpet padding, and there's no way that it will line up.
3) There is a stud coming through the firewall that is dirrectly where the clutch bracket should be. It had a bracket for the automatic tranny lockout cable on it. I actually tapped it with a hammer trying to get it out through the firewall, and it's stuck solid.
