I was wondering if someone could help me, as my speedo in my 1985 pontiac tranam has stopped working. The speedo cable has been removed and checked and the speedo itself has been checked and is working. my problem is that im not quite sure what is wrong, I understand that it could be the gear, but which side is that located on and it appears if i have located the speedo cable correctly that it goes into something and another cable attaches to that which then goes into the gear area. If thats correct whats the best way to removing this and testing to see if the small cable is broken? Im looking on the driver side at this, is that right? Can someone plz help as it is my first car and im struggling to learn. it looks like i might be able to take off tyhe cable with a pair of vice grips but im affraid of doing it in caase i break it, already had some bad luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
