Have a 92 with a 700R4. What are the symptoms of a bad torque converter???? The car was driving and would get a scraping sound in 1st but would go away with increasing speed and shifting up. Other than the sound at low speed and lower gear, everything else seemed fine. Opening the trans pan found small bearing pieces and metal. Friend said it was likely the low end planetary gears. Swapping out the tran but could the Torque Converter be bad?? I tipped it over to pour out some of the old fluid getting ready to assemble it. I can hear parts inside that move back and forth a bit (kind of like a clunk). Is that normal??
