Super T10 Swap

This is just for theory purposes for now at least. I might be able to get my hands on a Super T10 trans, bellhousing and Hurst Comp shifter for a decent price. I've always wanted a 4 speed since my dads last 2ndgen Camaro. The question is, will it fit with little to no problems? I've been told to get myself a TH350 driveshaft, crossmember and Torque arm mount. Is that all? How will the shifter fit in the tunnel? What would using a TH350 tailshaft do? I want to know everything there is to know about this swap. I've searched but have mostly found what "is" a ST10 or how much it can handle power wise. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Re: Super T10 Swap

That depends on what the T-10 is out of.

If it's out of a 82 Camaro or Firebird, then it will just about jump right in there, if you have the mechanical pedal setup to go with it.

If it's out of anything else, then it's going to be kind of tough and expensive.

If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want a 4-speed, just put a T-56 in it; and then don't use 5th & 6th. Its gear ratios are almost identical to the T-10 ones, and it's about the same strength or maybe stronger, and it fits the car better. Cost will probably not be too much different one way or the other.

Actually the trans is out of an '82 Z28. What parts are needed now that you know what it's out of? Guess I can't use pedals out of an '86 eh?

Re: Super T10 Swap

Nope...

You'll need the pedals out of a 82 or 83 with manual trans. The whole bracket and everything. Plus of course, the linkage; the push rod, Z-bar, pivot ball bracket, the pivot ball that goes in the block, and the adjuster rod. Torque arm bracket if you don't have that. Lengthen the drive shaft.

Re: Super T10 Swap

Sounds like you've got it covered. If you need anything, PM me.. I did the same '82 T10 swap into my car last summer.
