best year 4th gen rear

whats the best year to get? will my stock rims work? 91 rs. should i look for a 3.42 or 3.23 gear ratio. is the added performance of the 3.42 outweigh the better gas mileage of the 3.23? i have a 2.73 nonposi drum rear now.

Re: best year 4th gen rear

I think theyre all just 7.5 10 bolts. 98-02 rears probably have better brakes. 3.42 versus 3.23 probably isnt a big difference.

You can use your stock wheels but theyll stick out a bit as the fourth gen rear is a couple inches wider.
