Re: Question about T5

not much, i believe the stock 305tpi can break them. maybe 300 horse tops.

it also depends on how you drive it, im sure it will survive behind more power if you have no traction and baby the trans

Re: Question about T5

HP is not what hurts the t5,it is the TQ that kills them, they are rated to 300 ft-lbs(w/c style) and a stock tpi 350 has 345.it can live with soft launches and NO POWERSHIFTING!
irregaurdless the t5 is still a nice tranny but the t56 is the bomb!

Re: Question about T5

powershifting is prob not good in any situation heh.

ive used a WC T5 for about a year and it was very reliable and FUN. the car got wrecked, and i am now driving a car with 700r4, same size engine....not fun at all....pretty painful actually. im about to swap out the 700r4 and swap in the WC T5. I am planning on keeping the 305, and maybe at the most swapping in a stock L98....but that should be fine for the tranny.

it all depends on your goals. if your goal is stock or slight modification, WC T5 will be fine as long as you follow the rules listed by these other guys here. If you're doing moderate modification, id suggest the T56 tranny from the earlier model 4th gen fbody. heavy modification, tremec or equiv.

and remember, if you're planning on the heavier mods...ur tranny is not going to be the only thing you upgrade...heh.
