Does 700R4 tell ECM which gear?
This is an 86 Camaro witht he 700R4 and it has a '165 ECM. I know the ECM controls the TCC locking/unlocking based on weather it is in 4th or not in 4th, does it know the difference between 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?
Id like to build a little LED panel telling me what gear Im in and weather the TCC is locked or not, just for the heck of it really. If the Tranny sends some voltage depending on what gear its in or something, I think I could rig something up.

Yep, sorry, only 4th is on/off indication to the ECU. Your idea won't work... You can make an O/D and TCC lights though

Ok thanks, o well..
silly as it sounds, for a long time i had confused the TCC lockup with a shift into 4th, haha. Ive come to find that the TCC is set to lock in 4th at about 30 MPH, well when i get to 4th at say 40 MPH, boom its lcoked right as it shifts.
so once i learn the feel for it i wont need lights, i jsut never paid much attention to it till now.
