Quick question about 4th gen rears
A 4th gen rear is a 4th gen rear, correct? What's the difference's between a rear in an RS/Z28/Firebird/TransAm ? Do all models have 28 splined shafts? I'm fixing to pick up a rear from a 98 bird, just wanted to make sure if all 98's and above came with disc in the rear (wether it be v6 or v8, do they all have PBR calipers? Different sized rotors? Would a v6 car come with a posi unit? Sorry for all the questions, but thanks in advance.

Re: Quick question about 4th gen rears
from what i know, i think both V6 cars and V8 cars got the same disc brakes.
LT1 car rear ends from 93-97 i do believe all had PBR brakes and 11.65inch rotors with dual piston calipers.
98+ cars got 12 inch rotors and big single piston calipers.
I am not sure if a V6 car got posi or not. I'd stick to a V8 car rear just to be sure.
I also believe that all 87+ 10 bolt rears had upgraded 28 spline shafts.
