Torque Arm Mount

I'm doing a 700R4 to T56 and noticed in the "answers to questions that aren't normally asked" thread that the torque arm mount for the 700R4 setup won't work and that I would need one from a 4th gen. Does anyone know the part number for the mount? I've looked online for the part but I keep getting ones that fit 85-97 which doesn't make sense.

Re: Torque Arm Mount

i would think saying all was stock and its just a tranny swap it should fit. Now there is a differance in the way the lip ont the touq arm tip faces in differant years, mid 80's some where change

Re: Torque Arm Mount

All the torque arm mounts for the manual shift transmissions were the same for the 5 and 6 speed up through '97. The one i have came from a t-5 and it bolts up fine. auto's are different mount both 3rd and 4th gen.

Thanks, now I just need to find a site that sells them and specifies if it's for a manual or auto. Local Pontiac dealership wasn't much help.

Re: Torque Arm Mount

Don't run a stock torque arm, get an aftermarket crossmember mount or a jegs brand type mount instead of spending the money on something that can break tailshafts off your trans.

Re: Torque Arm Mount

spohn, BMR, alston, jegs brand, etc etc. There are tons out there and they all are basically doing the same thing.
