New clutch / T5 replaced......questions.
Okay, first off. My clutch was starting to slip last week so i decided to replace it and i also decided to replace my slave cylinder and transmission because the syncros in 3rd and 4th gear were shot. i just got the car back together this afternoon and i took it out for a ride around the block a few times. i dont know if this is normal but the clutch pedal is extremly easy to push in. i had to apply a considerable ammount of pressure on the old cluth pedal but this one, i can just use the weight of my leg for it to go down. another thing is the new clutch seems to catch at the top of the pedal....is that normal?.....when i had the car out on the highway tonight, i noticed a burning smell. kind of like brakes being over worked. is that normal for a new clutch? other than that the car seems to be running and driving great.

Some clutches are just easier to push than others; the Centerforce Dual friction for example.
Sounds to me like it's working OK. Most of the assembly mistakes that people make will make the clutch pedal seem like it needs to be pushed an additional 3" or something to make it release. If yours is releasing well within the stroke of the pedal, it's probably fine.
