tranny fluid and torque converter questions

Engine: L98(5.7 L TPI)
Transmission: 700r4(A4)
Axle/Gears: G80 RPO, 3:23s, Auburn Racer's Diff
tranny fluid and torque converter questions
I have a MILDLY modified 1991 GTA with an auto transmission (700r4?).
I have not really focused modifying my car in one direction yet (i.e. drag strip, auto x, etc.)
If I got a new torque converter.. would it do something like improve my 1/4 mile times but decrease my auto x performance?
Also, I think it's time for a tranny fluid change. How often is this fluid supposed to be changed, and what type of fluid do you recommend? I am partial to Royal Purple motor oil. Do they have different weight transmission fluids? If so, what weight do I need?
Finally, did any 3rd gens come with the corvette servo? If so, how can I tell if I have one or if I should upgrade to one. Do "firmer shifts" yield faster times?
