clutch won't release

clutch won't release
We are swapping a v6 for a 350 in an '83 camaro and we cannot get the clutch to release. We bled the lines and made sure the clutch wasn't stuck to the flywheel. There is enough travel in the slave cylinder so the master cylinder is fine, it worked for the v6 anyway. We bought the clutch kit all together so it should work. We just need a little more travel so the clutch won't engage when the pedal is pushed to the firewall. We don't know where to turn to next and any answers would be great. Thanks.
