85 2.8L Firebird tranny
Hi, I have a 87 Camaro Berlinetta that has a 86 TransAm 5.0L Tpi, with A 4speed Automatic tranny with od, but the tranny/rear end is going, But I have a 85 Firebird with a 2.8L engine with 4 speed automatic tranny with od, And the rear end/tranny are still good, I was wondering if they used the same trannys in the 86 trans am (5.0Ltpi), as they did the 85 firebirds (2.8LMfi), and if not if it would be worth it swapping them out of just buying a new transam tranny/rear end, I dont want to swap them and then have my car go super slow because i stuck a piece of crap tranny in it

They don't swap. The V6 you have and the V8 you have use different bellhousing bolt patterns.
You can take the guts out of the housings and swap them but then you have the aforementioned piece of crap tranny.
You want an 87-93 700R4. It can come from any car but you will have to re-use your tailshaft housing so that you can bolt on your torque arm.

you can use the rear end, all thirdgen rears are interchangeable, it wont be posi thou, idk if your ber is or not, but otherwise it will work perfect, and as long as their both drum breaks or both disc its a direct swap.
as for the tranny, that wont swap, v6 and v8 had a different bellhousing.bolt pattern, any v8 700r4 out of a fbody will work, their pretty easy to come by too.

So, If That Wont Work, I Want TO Do A Automatic To Manual Swap, Is there a place that has a list of parts ill need, and what model transmission should I spring for when I go to buy one?
