ok seriously what do I need

I would like both of the rear wheels to spin at the same time. I must have went through thirty posts trying to figure out what to do, however, all they did was explain what a posi was, and what limited slip was. I'm guessing that because Im doing one wheel burn outs is because I have an open rear end. I want to know what I could put in there so that both wheels will spin? Thanks for the help

You could use that, but if you have the original rear end, you have 26 spline axles. If you replaced the axles with 28 spline pieces, you could have a shop install that posi unit. It would also need 3-series gears (3.23 or higher number if stock).

Or, you could get this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku and install it yourself. Probably less than the cost of the posi, gears, axles, and shop install you would be facing with the eBay unit.

That ebay link is for what is called a "gov lock" posi, which in my experience are known for a 100% failure rate after time. Not that they quit working, but there are some tiny little pieces that will break, and eventually cause them to self destruct. If you search "gm posi" on ebay you will probably see a lot of those gov-locks for less money than an Eaton or Auburn style, and there is a very good reason for that.

"Positraction" (posi) is a Chevrolet tradename for a limited slip differential. The "carrier" component of the rear axle is what determines if it is a posi, or not. What you want is a posi carrier. Get an OEM carrier (Auburn?), or an aftermarket carrier such as Eaton , that uses either cone-type or friction disc-type "clutchs" that marry the axle shaft mated pinion gears to the carrier body.
Then you can wear out two rear tires instead of just one.

You DO NOT want the thing in that eBay ad!!!! That's the infamous Gov-Lock, aka Grenade-Lock, that is 100% GUARANTEED to fail spectacularly if used in combination with power, traction, and pavement. Just ask the S truck folks; they manage to tear them up with nothing but a 6-cylinder.

You need an Eaton N19663-1. Thunder Racing part # 185-19663-1.

You also DO NOT want an Auburn. Their reliability and customer service have been very poor of late. I strongly recommend staying away from them.

Any stock unit (Auburn as well) you find is likely to be worn out. Those have very weak clutches at best, anyway; not very effective.
