quick axle / gearing question
please correct me if im wrong....
on a 92 RS originally with an LO3 and a 700R4.
are the rear end gears a 2.73? if so
is it a two series carrier?
and also what axle spline are they?
thanks... oh
and if i were to get a set of 4.10s what kind of RPMs are we looking at for around 70 in overdrive just cruising.... with a 245x50x16 tire
other notes... fresh tranny going in this winter w/2800 Stall and full manual valve body. if that helps.
thanks again y'all

Re: qucik axle / gearing question
Originally, the car would most likely have come with 2.73 and no posi. Yes this is 2 series; 3.08 and lower is 2 series, 3.23 and higher is 3 series, in this model of rear. Originally it would have had 28 spline axles.
As to what's there now, the ONLY WAY to be sure, is to take off the cover and look. The strangest things happen to people who buy parts without checking those details first: it seems that those tend to be the cars that people have changed out the rear.
4.10 is WAY WAY WAY too much gear for an anywhere near stock L03. By "anywhere near stock", I'd include the cam, heads, and exhaust. If any of those original components remain, the engine's RPM capabilities will be SEVERELY restricted; and putting that much gear in the car will result in one of those wonders where it feels like a jack rabbit up to about 35 or 40 miles an hour, but you won't be able to pass ANYTHING on the freeway. A Kia Rio or a Scion xB will spank your butt on a 60 mph roll. Could be very embarrassing. I'd suggest something more along the lines of 3.42.
Take your current cruise RPM, divide by 2.73, multiply by 4.10. That will be your new cruise RPM.
