Which rear end to use - 92 3.23 or 2000 LS1 3.46

Here's the scenario. 92 B4C with L98, 700R4, and 3.23 rear. I'm doing an LS1 swap and have a 2000 donor car complete with entire drivetrain. The LS1 should make around 400RWHP and go in with the T-56.

Gear ratios aside, which rear end is stronger? I can always upgrade the gears in the 3.23. The car will likely never see the track and will be primarily street driven, but not even beat on badly.

Another point: brakes. I could do an LS1 brake conversion and the rear brakes would be easy with the rear end swap. I already have 1LE's so I don't expect much if any performance improvement, but rotors will be easier to come by (and cheaper).

Thoughts?

Are both rear ends 10 bolt? If so, what's the point other than the better LS1brakes?

I don't know. I understand stock LS1 rear ends are 10-bolt, but I don't know what the 3rd gen's used and I don't which are stronger/weaker than others. I've heard anecdotally that the LS1 10-bolts are relatively weak, but that's about it.

Is it the rear end in the 92 in your sig that your considering swapping? If so, the only up-grade to the swap would probably be the better LS1 brakes.

90-02 F-bodies used the 7.625" 10 bolt rearend. You can swap everything except the axles, as they are different lengths than the 82-92 10 bolt. The posi in the 00 is likely the zexel torsen, which is a nice upgrade to the factory posi's in the thirdgens. The brakes are better as well.

If you run stock wheels, they won't stick out on the sides if you swap everything over instead of swapping the whole rear. Swapping the whole rear is easier, but hey, it's aesthetics. Some people throw all of their money on the aesthetics of things rather than the actual things, so whichever you like more. Personally, I'd swap everything from the 00 rear into the 92 rear and get some nice axles from Strange or something.

Edit: 1LE only had special front brakes. Rear 1LE brakes were just the PBR brakes released in late '89, and I do believe the LS1 has better rear brakes than that.
