Powertrax No-Slip vs. Eaton or Auburn Posi

I'm trying to decide which unit to buy. I currently have a 10 bolt with
2.73 gears and open differential. I'm keeping my 2.73's because I am not really concerned about being quicker in the 1/4 mile as I am about MPG's
and top end(my goal: to see if I can make that 140 mph speedo go into
the world without #'s with my boat anchor 305,lol). They are all relatively in the same price range, about $450.00. I am considering Powertrax because I don't have to mess with my ring and pinion set-up and my axle/carrier/pinion bearings are all relatively new. Does anyone have any suggestions, info, or
pros & cons about either one of these units? If I can save up the money
and the wife let's me(lol), I would consider the Zexel-Torsen unit from a
4th gen and swap in 28 spl. axles from an 89-92 3rd gen. I here those units
are pretty good. If anyone's got any input about the Zexels, you know like
if you can get a 2 series carrier, that would be most appreciated.

the power trax is more of a pain than its worth, and is not a very "comfortable" thing to drive with. I speak from experience.

go with a posi, it may require a little more setup work, but you will be much happier in the end.

the zexel would be a good deal if you can get one

Seconded on going with a posi. It's a bit more predictable than the powertrax unit in corners. The powertrax will make the front of the car jump if you get on and off the gas while the posi is nice and smooth all the time.

Even with the weaker "Street" springs in the locker it is still not operate very smoothly and is quite noisy.

why? you say you aren't concerned with fast 1/4 mile times so why bother with a posi? The only usefull thing it adds is traction from a stop which you don't seem to want.

First of all, I never said that I didn't want better or added traction from a stop. I'm also tired of the one wheel burn-outs. And this car's soul purpose now is to be a "fun" daily driver/toy/cruiser. Second, my 2.73's give me the mpg's I want, plus I don't race this car. Third and most important,
IT'S MY FREAKIN CAR, AND I WANT TO PUT A POSI REAR IN IT!!!!!!!!!!! Who are you to make it seem like I'd be wasting my time doing this by asking me why? That's like me asking you why did you go through the trouble of putting a Dana 44 and T-56 in your IROC. It's really none of my business why. I think it's cool that your 19 year old IROC is still on the road, it's probably in way better shape than my poor battered T/A. I posted this
thread to find out pros, cons, and info on the above mentioned posi units, and to get suggestions on which one to buy. I don't mean to be an a**hole Jay, but I'm looking for information to help me make my 3rd gen more enjoyable to me and all you've done is answer a question with a question. Now if you have any info or comments on the above mentioned units, then I will more than welcome your input and suggestions. If not, than I humbly
ask you to unsubscribe to this thread and move on to threads that are of better interest to you. Thank you.
