9 bolt or 10 bolt?

Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: T56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.27 borg warner 9 bolt
9 bolt or 10 bolt?

what exactly is better about either or? is one more powerful i heard the 9 bolts have a better posi unit in them that uses a cone type clutch, no clue what that means if someone could explain.

A 9-bolt has a 7.75" ring gear, and a 10-bolt has a 7.5" ring gear in the early 80's and later they switched to a 7.625" ring gear. I think that happened around '85. A 9-bolt is marginally stronger but parts are hard to find.
