Bad Flexplate and T/C

Here we go, Had the carb rebuilt thinking it would fix it. Changed out all the ignition system, and then went to set the valve lash, and lastly set the timing four for five times. After searching the boards I found that most likely the valve or rod like noise would be the flexplate since the place I had the new engine didn't replace the flexplate. Also found here recently that the car was bogging down so bad it would start to diesel. So doing the little test I found here showed that it was locked at real low RPMS.

So how do I fix the two or should I just wait to fix it when I get the Trans rebuilt in 6 months.... Some one told me I would not have to pull the tranny out of the car to fix the flexplate. If in this case using 6" bolts to slide the tranny back can I also change out the torgue converter. And someone was saying that if it was locking up real early I should change the switch inside the tranny.

now should I do all this or just wait to do it when I get the trans rebuilt. Or if this should fix the problem should I put of the tranny rebuild till it really needs on. it is a 1984 Z28 305 G VIN. It has a rebuilt motor with 5000 miles on it and the tranny has some where over 200,000 miles on it.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Re: Bad Flexplate and T/C

Okay when I am driving after it hits second gear I pressed the brake just enought to unlock it it shoots up to 2500 and when I let go it drops down to less then 1500. I have read somewhere that someone had put a toggle switch on there car to keep it unlocked while driving on the street but then turned it to normal driving while on the highway. Could I do this and what would the pros and cons of this????
