My car was sitting for about two weeks, as my girlfriend prefers the more comfy ride of the Grand Marquis.

Decided to take the old gal out for a spin today [the Pontiac, not the g.f.]. Started her up. Put into reverse. Nothing. Put into drive. Nothing. A few moments later, all is well again. Did the converter empty into the transmission? Something to be concerned about?
After a 20 minute drive, I checked the dipstick, which indicated 'add one pint'. Will fill tomorrow. Is this all it takes to cause a problem? Had happened a few times before, in the spring and early summer, under similar conditions. First time in many months that I have checked the dipstick, though.

having low fluid in your transmission will cause it to slip and not engauge. ensure you fill it up and find out why you lost the fluid in the first place.

 

If the vehicle has sat for awhile, it can have torque converter drainback. Get the fluid level correct.
