Cable, VSS, vs Optical VSS wtf
Ok. help me out. This is driving me nuts.
Have a T5 + VSS for an 89 firebird. This is the magnetic VSS, not the optical one.
Looks like it takes the same gear as the optical one in picture #1 here.
How does the red gear in picture #2 slide over this VSS, since it takes the small gear shown in picture #1?
The Camaro went from cable straight to optical, but the firebird went cable, magnetic, optical. Were ALL the gears the same? Wtf..

Looks like you have cable stuff on the right, VSS stuff on the left.
You just need a VSS gear. The cable gears won't work.

About ¾ of the way down the page.... do a text search on the page for "t5dv"

Ok that part # didn't work. patc doesnt have 'em, and GM says they are discontinued.
Anyone know where I can get a 19 or 20 tooth gear for my vss ?

well go to a different GM dealer b/c i just got mine fixed 3 months ago. i ordered gears just in case but i did not need them. They exist. the dealer has to ship them in from either motor city or somewhere else. good luck!
