drum to disk rear end, shift kit questions
drum to disk rear end, shift kit questions
i have an 86 sport coupe 305, with an open diff drum 2:73 rear end. i have the opportunity to get a 3:73 posi disk rear end. is it a direct swap? what will i need to get the job done?
also, i was thinking of adding a b&m shift kit to my 700r4. can i install a shift kit with the tranny still in the car?
thanks

the rear should be a direct swap. some say to change your proportioning valve to a 4 disc one but i have a drum rear proportioning valve on my car right now with no issues.
stay away from the B&M shift kit. most on this board will tell you the same thing. go with transgo if you want a good shift kit.

You'll have to change the drive and driven gears on the tail shaft of the transmission if you want the odometer and speedometer to read correctly.
