Help! Turbo 350 Leftover Part...

I have a part that I don't know what to do with... Maybe an X-Mas decoration hanger!! My buddy took the tranny apart and said "Don't worry, I'll be back to show you how to put it together..." He is gone now...

I've got a great rebuilding page off of internet but it doesn't show where to use this left over clip.

Here is a pic of it at www.christiansens.ca/clip.jpg

or

Please- any ideas welcome!

I should have said that the screw driver is pointing at it.

Thanks again, Jim

Bah ha ha ha! You should really invest in a rebuild book if you want to rebuild a transmission.

That's called an anti-clunk spring. It goes in open end out beside the low/reverse drum. Without it the low/reverse support will fret or beat out the case eventually destroying the case.

Strip it down again. The low/reverse is at the back of the tranny.

I knew he was referring to that clip before I even opened this thread. I made the same mistake when I rebuilt my first Turbo 350...

Yes, thanks.

I found everything that I needed at google.com/books. It is together with the new output shaft and t-case adapter in place and should be going into the little Jeep this weekend.
