700r4 Input shaft damaged
Tore down the tranny due to no eng braking in 1st thru 3rd gears (turned out to be a fried overrun clutch).
During disassembly while pulling up on input shaft it came out without the input drum! Friend tells me the shaft is supposed to be a pressed fit and shouldn't come loose from the drum. The drum-end of the input shaft (where the 3 check ***** are) looks like it's been grinding on something. Before we pulled the pump out, we measured the input-shaft end-play at .025" (in spec).
I'm assuming I'll have to replace the input drum/shaft assy.
Any ides what could have damaged the end of the input shaft?
If I need a new input drum, where can I get a rebuild kit that includes a new input drum?
Thx!
