viper t56

Hey guys, i've researched alot of t56 options for my '91. I've read alot on these pages. Lt1 seems to be the most popular choice. I'm leaning toward Sixspeedincs. Viper box and buying Mcleods bellhousing. I have ht383 (416ftlbs rwhtq) thru seventh t5). T5's are useless. Anybody tried the viper box in this conviguration. I would greatly appreciate everybodies insite on this subject. Plans are at least 1000 rwhp. I'm going crazy with all the obtions.

Never heard that before...

So what IS it, REALLY?

What is the purpose of the car? How much (% of its miles) will it spend on the street? What's the transmission budget? What's the REST of the car? (that's pretty much where the reality separates from the BS...)

Very Serious. Pump Gas drag. 90% ( I've heard , automatic. I like shifting, I'll have to learn the hard way.) $6000. The rest of the car? Whatever it takes to get it there. Thanks again for your insite.

Re: viper t56

If you are very serious about going that fast then the last thing you want is some regular manual transmission. You will either want a properly prepped TH-400, or more preferrably a Power Glide, or an aftermarket manual transmission (preferrably CO2 shifted) such as a Lenco. For that kind of power it is senseless to spend time shoving in a clutch and shifting around a production style manual transmission.

Re: viper t56

Thanks guys for taking the time to help me out and respond to this thread. I finally figured out there is a search option on the forums and was able to narrow the information down. I found a couple of guys (not all of them) who had went the aftermarket path and ended up with some vibration and driveline issues. To correct, they had to cut Transmission tunnel to allow them to raise the back of the Trans. All due to the overall length of the transmission and bellhousing. Looks like the masses are correct in picking a properly built LT1 option for power in the 700 to 800 hp range. I'll check on the Lenco and tranzilla options. Thanks again. Knowledge is Power.

Re: viper t56

I'm still checking on the Lenco and Transzilla. I don't think the Lt1 T56 is for me. I cant find a SFI approved bellhousing for the Lt1, If i'm wrong please tell me. Anybody know what the Transzilla cost?

Found out how much for Tranzilla - $8500.00 or modify your own for $6500.00

Re: viper t56

If you do not need 1000ft/lb if you call in they have more options that they do not tell you on the web site i got one rated to 750ft/lb around $3000 if you dont need full 1000ft/lb its alot cheaper and uses viper shafts
