9 bolt help
So i started swapping the ring gear over to my new carrier today and found that my new carrier is a different series. The one that had the crunched spider gears is a series 3, so the ring and pinion i am using needs a series 3. the new carrier i purchased is a series 2, when i put the gears on, the pinion gear barely touches the ring gear.
Now i have a few options:
1) is there a spacer for 9 bolts so i can move the ring gear over 1/4 inch? i haven't found one and have heard that there isn't enough shoulder to support one anyways.
2) buy a new ring and pinion. The problem is just more money that i don't have, as well as if i have a series 2 carrier can i actually get a 3.7 for a series 2 carrier?
3) swap the new spider gears into the series 3 carrier. this would be very easy considering the 9 bolt carrier splits in half. my concern is there are a few small grooves on the inside of the clutch housing where the cone clutch is due to the spider gears shredding, i'm not sure what the damage would be by using this one.
thoughts? I'm almost regretting this whole process
