leaking 700r

hey i got a 1985 v-6 berlinetta with the 700r transmission. ive been trying to fix a leak with the dipstick tube where it goes into the trans case. ive replaced the grommet already and it still leaks. is there anything else i can do to stop the transmission from leaking, or is there like some special way you have to install the tube , or do i need a new tube? any help will be greatly appreciated..... thanks...

Re: leaking 700r

Check your tube where it goes into the trans...I've come across a few that have cracked there and continue to leak. People install the tube and try to bend the top of the tube where they need it...this causes too much stress on the bottom sometimes.

Does yours use the o-ring or the gromet type seal? If it's o-ring, there is a grove on the tube for the ring to set in.

Look at your trans cooler lines to see if they are leaking...it is right on top of the dipstick tube area...

good luck and let us know how you made out...
