I have an 82 Z28 equiped with a 200c which I have heard many bad stories about, and have been looking for a while for a 700r4 to replace it. I think I finally found one, but its in an 89 s-10 with 4 wheel drive. I read a few forums on here that mention the output shaft would have to be changed to convert it to 2wd. Can I use the output shaft and related parts from my 200c to make this conversion, or is it just a stupid idea to try to convert a 4x4 tranny? Thanks

 

It requires that the transmission be completely diassembled, a 2WD output shaft, and a tail housing from an F-body. Nothing can be used from the 200C. Look for a 1988 & up transmission from a Firebird or Z-28.
