T5 tranny

Just a quick question..the T5 in the F-bodies and the the T5 in the mustangs are close to the same with the input shaft and i think gears are a bit different (some of them anyway) But from what I understand is that the case is the same right? Everyone is telling me to get rid of my T5 and that it's junk (due to the case flexing) but four of my frineds have T5 mustangs with built engines(mild to wild) and they crulize sp? these cars without a problem...now I dont intend to go smashing on my tranny or powershifting it but I'm sure it will see a run threw the gears trying to keep up with the stangs, and im only running...maybe 300 hp at the crank...so if im not dumping the clutch or power shifting it it should hold up right.....and yes there is a tranny swap in the future (tko) but that wont be for a few years probally.

Re: T5 tranny

if your not dumping the clutch or power shifting your not having enough fun, yes t-5s arent the greatest, but ive beat the snot outta mine and its holding up fine, i only have a lightly modded 305 though, but 3 years of abuse and its still holding up!

Re: T5 tranny

You basically answered your own question. Clutch dumps and power shifting are the two things that will kill a T5 quickly. Btw, our T5's are identical to the Mustang ones as far as strength/integrity goes. Our cars kill them quicker than the Mustangs due to our cars being heavier, and the fact that our motors put out more torque.
