Re: super t10 swap
Someone *just* asked this question. Scroll and find his thread and tag on. I think he might be swapping from a T5 though. The answers are the same though.

Re: super t10 swap
First off - what did the 4-spd come out of? That will make a BIG difference in the amount of work involved.

Re: super t10 swap
i acturally thiniking of doing the exact same swap.
im still undecided if i still want to do the swap or not.
by the time im finished with my car. probablyu be afew more years till its exactly what i want it should hopfully put out 700hp or more. so im not to sure if the Super T10 would hold up or if i would have mega trouble shifting into 3rd with all the Gs and getting sucked ino the seat. i heard someone that had a very hard time changing gears at the track. i might just go with a TH400. but i love the manual trans. its more enjoyable i find to drive. but since its gunna be a track car. i kinda want to have quick fast shifts.

Re: super t10 swap
Look at lefthander chassis, or at a catalog for drag/road course racers. The single most popular manual tranny is the Super T-10. It must work pretty good...
The tranny is bolted firmly to the engine, so if your engine twists and you're using a mechanical linkage then theres a chance the linkage can bind. I've had trouble pulling out of 1st gear when i'm accelerating hard sometimes. Not sure the reason, but I blame it on the powertrain shifting.
You can chain the engine down, run poly or solid motor mounts etc. I'm going to a hydraulic clutch, because the hydraulic hose can twist or move a few inches and still work completely normally.
I'm not sure about the pedals, but I *think* they are different.

Re: super t10 swap
No, you need the longer one. The one for a TH350, T10 and TH200C.
Ask a driveshaft shop for one for a 1982 Transam, with a T-10. Get one made up out of aluminum.
Or get one of us to measure ours, and buy a pre-made one from lefthander or the like.

Re: super t10 swap
Pedals are DEFINITELY different. Incompatible.
However, AFAIK the T-10 pedals were the same as the 83 T-5 pedals; so at least there's a certain number of them out there in the world.
Yes you need the pivot ball that screws into the block; although, if memory serves, it actually screws into the side of the bell housing, an inch or 2 behind the block.
You also need the bracket that goes on the frame that the other end of the "Z-bar" bolts to.
Linkage SUCKS. Hydraulic is better. I changed my car (83 T-5) to hydraulic in about 86 or 87, the VERY FIRST time I saw a hyd car in the junkyard to snag the goodies out of; one of the BEST things I ever did to it. Not sure what all would be involved in doing it with a T-10, but I don't think it would be as easy as it is with a T-5.

Re: super t10 swap
No. You'd need the macleod bellhousing. $400 or something. Then all the stock hydraulics from these cars, including pedals.
I just simply bought the Howe hydraulic throwout bearing. $150. Then you just need the master cylinder, and some pedals of some type. You probably need to fab up some kind of mount. I haven't done mine yet.
My pivot ball screwed into the block. Right above the oil filter.
Email me and remind me tonight to measure the DS length.
