Ok, so my car is an automatic 86 Trans AM, it has a 700r4 in it. I put in a TCI full manual reverse pattern valve body w/ engine braking. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=TCI%2D376015&N=700+304455+115&autoview=sku and a TCI street fighter shifter http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=TCI%2D616443&N=700+115&autoview=sku . Now the owner of the TA before me had put in a shift kit in, so the valve body check ***** were not in the original positions. When installing the full manual valve body, the ***** are supposed to be in the stock spots, not the spots of a shift kit. I have the book with the locations of the original ball spots, but the view was upside down, I couldn't lay the ***** on the plate, I had to actually stick them up inside the trans with vaseline. So that got closed up and the shifter was installed fine. It was supposed to go from front to back, Park - Reverse - Neutral - 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th. Park, reverse, neutral, 1st, and 2nd shifted fine, but when I went from 2nd to what should be third, the engine would just rev as if it was in nuetral and then what should be 4th went back into 2nd. I thought maybe the ***** were still suspended in the trans from the vaseline, so I drove it around for a while and eventually what should have been second make my cars wheels lock up and come slamming to a hault. It started going into 2nd again, but it seems seriously messed up, anyone out there know how I can get into 3rd and 4th? Any help is appreciated.

 

HMM??... I'ld just take it apart again and start over. Find a Chilton book with a factory checkball schematic and go from there. But that's just me, its up to you.
