Re: changing tv cable
I dropped my cross member and lowered the back of the trans, unhooked the cable from trans and then pulled it out from the top. there may be an easier way but this only took about 20 mins..

Re: changing tv cable
I use a 1/4in socket wrench with a 10mm deep socket, and I can wrestle my hand in there and loosen the bolt without removing anything. You can connect the hook up without looking at it, and with one hand as well. Remember that you want to route it down from the top first, then connect it to the tranny.

Re: changing tv cable
The end of the cable on the transmission side is about 3 or 4 inches behind the dipstick. there is a small bolt holding it in(I think its a 10 MM) It can probably be disconnected by just feeling around with your hand but you have to unhook it from the top first so you will have some slack in the cable. I just think it is alot easier by taking the 4 bolts out of the cross member and letting the trans drop down about 3 inches or so. it gives you more room to get your hand up in there.
Re: changing tv cable
Yeah it's a little tight to get your hand in there, but I've done it several times without lowering the trans. Just takes a little finagling. The one bit of advice I will give you is to either have someone else pull up the slack in the cable on the throttle end while you're hooking it up at the trans, or pull up the slack yourself and use a small pair of vise grips to hold the cable in place. It likes to fall off the hook down at the trans really easy if you don't keep the slack pulled up at the other end. I used the locking pliers when I did mine since I was by myself, and I got tired of crawling underneath, and crawling back out every time the cable would slip off the hook. Like the other guy said, thread the cable through from the top, hook it up at the trans and tighten the bolt, then go topside and hook it up to the throttle linkage. Once you have it tightened down at the trans, it'll stay hooked up.
