Need Help with Rear Fast

I just swapped a 9 bolt 3.27 limited slip rear and an Island Empire aluminum driveshaft into my 92 firebird. I have been driving it for 2 days and have noticed some noises. I will try to describe them the best I can. First is a churping noise from the passenger side rear brake. It does it sometimes when I go really slow and every time I slightly put on the brakes. The second noise I am hearing on and off is a light thunder like noise. It gets louder with bumps. The next problem is the rougher ride, like I dont have my tires balanced or something. Lastly when I let off of my brakes from a stop and let my car role, It feels like one wheel is running over something on every rotation. There is no whining on turns. Both tires will make about the same size black mark. I can't find another article on this problem. This is my daily driver so I need help ASAP.
Thanks
Wes

I forgot to add that when I put on my brakes it feels like I have bad rotors, but they are brand new..

Re: Need Help with Rear Fast

ok ill help you. first off your chirping noise on the left brake or whichever it was is either warn down pads warning you they need to be changed or its just sand or dust in there. as for rotors they can become warped very fast and easily depending on your braking style. i have a feeling your thunder noise is a bad axle shaft bearing. youll have to remove the axle and seal to get to it. also the axle shaft could be worn out also so both could need to be changed as well because they both wear together. as for the rougher ride explain how its rougher. and the one wheel that feels like going over a bump is your bearing/shaft issue it must be very very worn.

Thanks alot. The rough ride is like going down the highway with tires that need to be balanced.. a constant shaking

that could also be cause by the bearing/axle. to be safe id say change the bearing AND axle at once. find someone local selling the axles if not try tpihearse on here pm him i know he had 9 bolt axles for sale a little while ago. btw pulling bearings arent easy. youll need a special puller tool and some muscle to put into it. some can be a PITA others can come out decently.

ok thanks I will see what I can do.. The whole swap was a PITA lol.. first my housing was bent so I bought one from someone on this sight. I got someone that knows a lot more than I do to help me put the guts into the new housing.. and I finally get it in my car and this has to happen. The axle shafts looked fine when they were out.. I didnt see anything wrong with them.

well to try and pinpoint the noise to be positive you could put it on a lift or jackstands so the rear tires arent on the ground and put the car in drive and see if it makes the noise if so then go under and listen where its coming from in the rearend. axles usually dont look to worn but sometimes are.

Re: Need Help with Rear Fast

I got a chance to look it over today, there was rear oil leaking everywhere.. needless to say I just swapped them back out.. I will get it fixed later and put it in the 90 firebird (the one that isn't my daily driver). I hate to even admit this but this was my first opperation on my car and the reason my ride was rough was because 1 of the shocks was not bolted on ... so that had nothing to do with the rear.. but it did make noise and it was leaking really bad on the right side. anyway thanks for your help. This site is great bc of ppl like you.

Re: Need Help with Rear Fast

Had same chirping noise in in the brakes my bw9 but it was on the drivers side.
Kept going through different types of brake pads hoping that would solve the problem.
Put car up on jackstands, took brakes and rotor off.
Put a needle indicator on the caliper mount ran the needle on the outside of the axle where the lug bolts are. Had my brother turn the wheel on the other side. Boy did that needle move!
Turned out whoever owned the car before me must have slid into a curb or something else that bent the axle.

I think Camaroheaven.com listed used bw9 axles.

anytime, stuff like that happens to everybody. everyone at least does something stupid once in their life but learns from it. where exactly is it leaking the fluid from?

Necroman is telling you right. One of your axles is bent.
