Hello, i have an 88 2.8 5 speed manual, i previously have only had auto bird/tas. so i was just wondering how my box 'should' feel. at the moment its a slow affair - i cant rush it. it dosnt crunch or anything and 'drops' in eventually just feels reluctant sometimes. i relize its no jap flick the wrist stuff. just wondered what peoples experiences are????????

hi, its on 81 thou, i changed fluid but didnt make any difference, still notchy.

 

Yeah mines horrible. I grind gears all the time tho, from trying to rush the shifts. Sometime it spits the shifter outta gear, and that is loud.

But usually when I am shifting, its like, when you go to put it in gear, it kicks back right before it goes in.

 

i dont rush the shifts like i have on other motors, i just let it do what it wants, and the cars great fun to drive. it never pops outa gear or anything. but if i knew what it should feel like from the factory i would know wether it could do with ripping apart or not.
