elec. spedo gauge/manual spedo gear

I bought a '91 RS Camaro that has a manual gear t5 and an electronic speedometer in the dash. What's the easiest way to get this remedied? Changing the gauge cluster will create problems with the computer and changing the trans to VSS will be hard to do because they're hard to find.

I'm not sure what you wish to remedy. Swapping one cluster (90-92) won't create problems with the computer. The VSS can probably be had in the classifieds.

Easiest remedy is, change the VSS.

They are EVERYWHERE. They come in every GM vehicle with the T-5 (S trucks for example), and the same one fits some of the wrong-wheel-drive transmissions even. I even have accumulated a few of them over time, myself. They can't be THAT hard to come up with. They're even pretty cheap, new.

If you already lost your original one somehow, try here. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

Re: elec. spedo gauge/manual spedo gear

The car is a '91. It was originally a 700r4 auto but it was converted (poorly) to a '86-'89 or so T5. It also has a 2.73 rear axle ratio. I think this conflicts with the T5. The lowest ratio I've seen advertised to work with that trans is a 3.08. I'm going to call the dealer to see if they have a change over kit. I hope the VSS is as easy to take care of as you say it is.

Well I didn't say; but, it's not.

It's easier. Whatever you say you thought I said, it's easier.
