Re: t5 to t56

Well i hear you must use the LT1 flywheel, but i also hear you can use a adapter(2inch) and retain the better slave cyl. and would be ok(i have looked and cannot find this spacer by itself).

Re: t5 to t56

No you cannot.

The LT1 clutch pulls instead of pushes.

There's no provision in the BH for the familiar style of clutch, and the flywheel is a different thickness and bolt pattern for the clutch. The stock LT1 flywheel will work on your 86-up crank.

Drive shaft is the same.

You'll need hydraulics also. And a shifter.

Yes, there are places that sell a spacer with a T56 to retain the T5 bell housing and will allow the use of the T5 clutch assy. and retain the stock slave.

Re: t5 to t56

ok well i found a couple of sites that sells the spacer alone. $190 was the cheapest. but i guess it will be worth it cause it will keep me from having to buy a new flywheel and clutch and everything.

Re: t5 to t56

It does move the trans back 2" and you can't use it unless you have the long input shaft. The LT1 trans does not have it. (the long input) It comes in the aftermarket replacement trans. That's what the adaptor is for.

Well, it looks like a simple thin plate, it doesnt look like it moves anithing back verry far, the one he found. The one i found is thick, 2 inches thick, i will email them for details.

Re: t5 to t56

make sure you dont by an lt1 flywheel. Lt1's are externally balanced on the flywheel, and your motor is balanced internally. so bolting an lt1 flywheel to your motor will send it out of balance and you'll have vibrations.

Ive done auto to t5 and t5 to t56 swaps. learn from experience, i also recommend the spec stage 3 clutch.

Re: t5 to t56

Well, i thought the LT1 flywheel was ballanced the same as any 87+ 350, how is everyone using the T56 from a LT1 behind a TPI or any other SBC without the flywheel that must be used to retain the LT1 clutch setup?

Re: t5 to t56

Well, i hope he is using a 87+, i have no idea which flywheel he could use to go T56 on the 85-. Guess he would HAVE to use the adapter and keep the T5 bellhousing.

Sais small/big block, that doesnt make sence, i thought they were ballanced way different? Guess it is because it might be for all internal bllanced?

85- balanced internally, so you cant use the lt1 flywheel, you need this.
