6 cylinder torque converter
Whats the stock stall for the 6 cylinder torque converter for a 1991 firebird. The main question I have is how would it work on a v8? Its not from the 60 degree V-6 patern 700r4 either.
Here are photos of the transmission.

Re: 6 cylinder torque converter
What it stalls behind a v-6 is irrelevant. If you put it behind a v-8 it will stall higher(how much?dont know that). I once use a stock converter for a 4-cyl vega in a th350 behind a 355 with a b&m 177 blower on it, gave me about 3250 of stall. It wont live long though.

Re: 6 cylinder torque converter
I have successfully used Buick V6 torque converters behind Buick and Olds V8s with no problems. With a small block they give me about 1800-2000 and with a big block I get around 2200. Nothing to brag about, more like a "saturday night special" type of thing. It's better than stock to the point that you're happy you did it.
If you are using a 4.3 converter you may not notice much of a difference. I'm betting you'll be in the 2000 range as well.
