Rebuilt 700R4 lag

I bought my car with a rebuilt 305 TBI w/ 5,000 miles and the 700r4 was rebuilt and only had 3,000. but when i put the tranny in reverse it takes up to 10 seconds for it to "lock in". could my torque converter be going bad or is it something inside the tranny? the funny thing is when they rebuilt the tranny, dumb****s didnt put the tranny mount bolts in!!! didnt find that out till 3 months later then i kept hearing a loud clank underneath!

Make sure the fluid level is correct. This is not a torque converter problem.

Re: Rebuilt 700R4 lag

I check the fluid level every week or so and it always reads full. The car sat for about 4 months until i was interested in buying it. thats when the guy brought it outta the barn and drove it to show me, and when we changed the tranny fluid, it was like a really dark brown color, most likely from sitting for so long. can u think of anything else that be causing it? and how hard is it to change a tail shaft seal? and also can someone explain to me what a stall converter does? and if i'm modifying my engine is that something i should definetly invest in for when i go to the track?

Re: Rebuilt 700R4 lag
