Posi specific spider gears?

i'm a little confused. I'm rebuilding my rear end, and as i'm looking for a new set of spider gears i come across these that say positraction spider gears,
http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDet...spx?ProdID=975
and this set that says open spider gears
http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDet...spx?ProdID=992
is there any difference?
On all the other sites i've seen, there is just 1 standard set for a 7.5 26 spline.

Re: Posi specific spider gears?

Well, in the description for the "open" set, it says it's for the early carriers with the large "windows". I've seen those carriers, and then I've seen newer open carriers that have one small and one large window. Who knows, maybe the early ones used different spiders? Judging by the price listed for the "posi" spider gears, I think I'd shop at another site anyways. That's probably the most ridiculous price I've ever seen for a set of spider gears. If you have an open carrier, not a posi, I'd say this is a much better deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-Ch...4993QQtcZphoto There's probably a good chance that the Auburn posi units require different spider gears than the open carriers, but it's usually the non-replaceable cone clutches that make an Auburn carrier junk, and not the spider gears.
