Stock stall
I have the 305 tbi with the 700r4 and i was woundering how big the stock stall is?

Yes the stock one is a locking converter. A higher stall speed allows the engine to get up closer to its torque peak before it launches. That makes it launch with more power available so it gets going quicker.
