4th gen rear swap

What originally seemed like an easy modification now has me wondering after researching the brakes. My rear is from a 1994 Formula and if someone could give me a straightforward answer about which prop valve to use and whether or not anything else must be changed I would be very grateful.

Thanks
Rex

Re: 4th gen rear swap

what do you currently have now?

94 formula has the same brakes as the 89-92 thirdgens. So use a 91-92 proportioning valve and ebrake cable, it should work just fine. If you have drums currently maybe replace teh master cylinder to a disk style as well, but i dont believe that is necessary

Re: 4th gen rear swap

I have an '86 Firebird with drums and non-posi rear. Is there only a single proportioning valve for all 91-92 F-bodies?

You say maybe replace the master cylinder, but you don't think its necessary. Why even mention it, if its not important?

I checked through the tech articles and found the one for the 4th gen rear. In that article I believe they did away the stock prop valve, ran full pressure to the front, and installed a Wilwood adjustable for the rear. Thoughts?

Thanks

Re: 4th gen rear swap

the reason i mentioned the master cylinder is i'm not sure if they are different from drum to disk cars, but from what i know and what i wrote in that article, ppl have used the stocker just fine.

you will need a proportioning valve for any 89-92 disk brake cars. that will give you the right distribution front/rear.

Else you can run the adjustable wilwood valve, its all in what you wish to do. a stocker valve for a disk brake car would be best and easiest
